hints and tips for using GYS GYSMI E200 FV MMA Welder
Start with the right power
Plug into the correct supply (110V or 230V) and, if you're using an extension lead, choose a heavy-duty cable. The GYSMI E200 FV tolerates long leads and generator use, but thicker cables help maintain stable power and a smooth arc.
Choose electrodes thoughtfully
Match electrode type and diameter to the job — thin sheets need smaller rods and lower settings, while thicker or rusty metals benefit from larger electrodes and a higher amperage. Take a moment to set the machine within the recommended range for best results.
Use the Hot Start gently
The adjustable Hot Start makes striking an arc easier. For delicate work choose a lower Hot Start, and for dirty or oxidised metal increase it slightly — just enough to help the arc without overheating the workpiece.
Let Arc Force help penetration
If the arc feels weak or sticks, try a small increase in Arc Force to improve penetration and stability. Make small adjustments and test on scrap so you can feel the difference before working on the final piece.
Anti-sticking saves time
Enable or rely on the Anti-Sticking feature when working with tricky rods or awkward positions. It reduces the chance of the electrode sticking, which keeps your workflow steady and reduces rod waste.
TIG lift basics
If you’re using the Lift TIG function, touch the tungsten to the work briefly to start the arc, then lift smoothly to begin welding. The automatic arc release helps avoid craters, so experiment with the timing to get a neat finish.
Keep the panel clean and dry
The front panel is sealed, but it’s good practice to keep the machine away from heavy dust and damp. Wipe down leads and connectors after use and store the unit in its case to extend its life.
Mind your duty cycle
The E200 FV has a strong duty cycle for its size, but if you’re running at high amperage give it short rests to avoid overheating. If you need long continuous welds, plan breaks or swap with a cooled unit where possible.
Practice on scrap first
Before committing to a critical piece, try a few beads on scrap material using your chosen electrode and settings. This helps you fine-tune amperage, arc control and travel speed so your finished welds look and perform better.
